June 10, 2025by OTI News

L&T Share: Infrastructure giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a major engineering contract from JSW Energy, valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore. The order pertains to the development of the Bhavali Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Maharashtra — a key move in India’s transition to renewable energy.

L&T Wins Big Order From JSW Energy for Bhavali Project

This win has put L&T share price today in the spotlight, reflecting investor optimism over its growing EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) order book in the energy space.

Project Details: From Hydro Power to Rural Water

JSW Energy – Bhavali PSP, Maharashtra

The Bhavali PSP, with a planned capacity of 1,500 MW, is being built across Nashik and Thane districts. Under this EPC contract, L&T’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HCI) division will handle:

  • Construction of upper and lower reservoirs

  • Water conductor systems and pressure tunnels

  • Underground powerhouse units

  • Associated civil infrastructure like approach roads

These storage-based hydropower projects help balance the grid during peak demand by storing and dispatching power as needed — especially important as India increases its reliance on intermittent renewable sources like solar and wind.

Rajasthan Govt – Rural Water Infra

Just days before the JSW order, L&T secured an EPC contract for the Rajasthan Rural Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Project – Phase II, Package-1. Scope of work includes:

  • 5,251 km of transmission and distribution pipelines

  • 38 ground-level reservoirs (total capacity: 40 ML)

  • 132 overhead service reservoirs (total capacity: 25 ML)

  • 20 pump houses across the region

This project underlines L&T’s growing footprint in rural and urban water infrastructure, a space increasingly backed by government capex.

Sector Insights: Infra & Energy Stocks on the Rise

L&T’s back-to-back order wins — including another ₹1,000–2,500 crore EPC contract last week from the Rajasthan government for rural water supply — indicate a strong capex cycle across India’s infrastructure and utility sectors.

Other infrastructure peers like KEC International, NCC Ltd, and Kalpataru Projects have also reported rising order books in Q4. However, L&T’s consistent scale and execution capability continue to make it a preferred pick for large-value, time-sensitive projects.

L&T Share Price: Market Sentiment

Many analysts are bullish on L&T share price today, citing:

  • A record-high order book of ₹4.5 lakh crore

  • Strong visibility in energy transition, water infra, and transport segments

  • Expected earnings CAGR of 15–18% over FY25–FY27

Outlook: What’s Next for L&T Investors?

This latest JSW Energy contract reinforces L&T’s positioning as India’s go-to EPC partner for green and sustainable infrastructure. With rising government focus on pumped storage and renewable integration, L&T is likely to benefit from more such tenders.

Additionally, the company’s healthy balance sheet, robust execution track record, and rising international exposure offer a compelling long-term story for investors looking at infrastructure-led growth.

Final Take: Should You Watch L&T ShareNow?

For Indian retail investors, L&T continues to offer stable earnings visibility, exposure to high-growth sectors, and potential upside from infrastructure-related government capex. With increasing traction in green energy projects, L&T may very well emerge as the backbone of India’s renewable revolution.

Keep an eye on L&T share price today, especially as more “significant” and “large” orders are expected to flow in this financial year.
