May 7, 2025by OTI News

India’s electric mobility space saw a fresh spark as Ather Energy share price surged 5% on Tuesday, a day after its listing. Although the debut was not as electrifying as expected, renewed investor interest lifted the stock, signalling potential trading opportunities ahead.

Ather Energy Share Price Movement: From Discount to RecoveryAther Energy Share Performance

After listing with a slight premium of 2.18% on the NSE at ₹328, Ather Energy’s stock closed Day 1 at ₹302.30—down nearly 6% from its issue price of ₹321. On the BSE, it debuted at ₹326.05, touched a high of ₹332.90 and dipped to ₹300 before settling at ₹302.50.

Despite the weak finish, Tuesday brought a wave of optimism. The stock opened with a 4.1% gap-down but quickly reversed course, touching an intraday high of ₹329.75—a gain of over 9% from the day’s low. This intraday reversal suggests buyers are stepping in at lower levels, possibly eyeing long-term growth in India’s booming EV market.

Market Valuation and Investor Sentiment Post-Listing

Ather’s current market cap stands at ₹11,762.28 crore, an increase from ₹11,266.90 crore after the rebound. The rally came amid broader interest in green energy plays and a relatively strong show by its peers in the EV segment.

Many retail traders, especially those active on NSE and BSE forums, highlighted the stock as a high-beta candidate, ripe for short-term gains. Long-term investors, however, are waiting for the upcoming quarterly results before jumping in fully.

Upcoming Catalyst: Ather’s Financial Results on May 12

All eyes are now on Ather’s board meeting scheduled for 12 May 2025, where the company will release its quarterly and annual financial results. These numbers will give clarity on revenue growth, profitability, and EV adoption trends.

Analysts believe that solid financials could push the share price above its issue price in the coming weeks. However, weak numbers might trigger another round of profit booking.

Bottom-Line

For short-term traders, volatility offers both risk and opportunity. The quick bounce after the weak listing signals that institutional players may see long-term potential. Ather also benefits from a strong brand image in India’s electric two-wheeler market, giving it an edge over newer entrants.
